School Counselors & Virtual Virginia: A Partnership for the Future

Counselors Newsletter

School counselors are vital to the success of the Virtual Virginia Advanced Placement School and we look forward to developing a long and mutually beneficial relationship.

The school counseling profession promotes the concept of establishing comprehensive, developmental school counseling programs that meet the needs of all students and are viewed as effective and cutting-edge. As school counselors, we are charged with promoting the academic, career, and personal/social growth and development of our students. One of the most important ways we do this is by fostering our students’ academic achievement by providing opportunities for advanced coursework. Virtual Virginia can assist you in achieving this goal!

AP Exam Reimbursement

Schools are asked to cover the AP Exam fees of their Early College Scholar students who take AP courses through Virtual Virginia. The schools will submit a request for reimbursement and the local school district will receive the reimbursement from DOE. To request a reimbursement, schools must submit a list of ECS students, the name of the course and exam taken, and a copy of the invoice showing the exam was purchased. This information is submitted to Betsy Gragnani (betsy.gragnani@doe.virginia.gov) for processing. In order to receive reimbursement the request must be into Betsy's office no later than June 1, 2008.
