OUTREACH PROGRAM

The VVA Outreach Program gives each Virginia public school division access to its own instance of the Statewide Learning Management System (LMS) and online course resources at no cost, including free access to VVA support.

The Statewide LMS serves the needs of the VVA program, school divisions, Governor’s Schools, the Virginia Department of Education, and other educational professional organizations for delivering online courses and content to support instruction and professional learning.

Virginia public school divisions can import digital resources and online learning modules for more than 100 K–12 courses to their instance of the Statewide LMS at no cost. Annually updated by Virginia public educators, content includes instructor guides, fully developed lessons with interactive practice and assessments, and question banks.

All VVA Outreach course resources are aligned with appropriate state and/or national standards and are designed according to National Standards for Quality Online Courses and Quality Matters course design standards. All K–5 content is aligned with the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOLs) and Virginia’s Comprehensive Instructional Program (CIP). For grades 6–12, content for core academic and world language courses are aligned to the Virginia SOLs, and AP course content is developed according to the College Board’s curricular guidelines.

Initially, VVA Outreach resources were designed as a foundation for teachers to use in their classrooms and modify according to their local school needs. Beginning in 2023–2024, all Outreach course resources will be updated to be consistent with expectations of high-quality instructional materials (HQIM): resources for teachers that are easy to use and aligned to rigorous standards.

Participating public school educators are enrolled in the statewide Virtual Virginia Professional Learning Network (PLN) and may participate in workshops and statewide webinars.
