This course provides an introduction to the basic structures, grammar, and vocabulary of the Italian language. Students will learn to understand, speak, read, and write Italian at a novice level by developing the necessary skills needed for basic communication and comprehension. Through listening, speaking, writing, and reading activities, students will be engaged with the target language and build their understanding and application skills. Cultural aspects of the language, the country, its people, and their traditions and customs will also be explored and discussed.

This course aligns with the Virginia Standards of Learning for Modern Roman Alphabet Languages.
