Virtual Virginia’s (VVA) K–5 Elementary Program offers divisions, schools, and learners the option for high-quality, full-time online instruction (180 instructional days). Two cohort start date options are available to support differing school calendars across the Commonwealth.
Through this program VVA provides the Virginia-certified teacher of record, access to the VVA learning management system (LMS) with core asynchronous content, and high-quality synchronous instruction. Students participate in core instructional activities in Reading and Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and STEM. Supplemental lessons in Physical Activity and Wellness, World Languages, Dance, and Arts will be offered to students enrolled in the Elementary Program.
The local enrolling school retains autonomy to provide additional specials, student services, screeners/diagnostic exams, and SOL assessments per the school/division policies.
Students enrolled in VVA courses retain membership in the enrolling division; they apply for free- or reduced-price meals through their enrolled school division’s application and approval process and are served via local processes that vary by division.
